Oxford County : One and Only Female Firefighter Files Lawsuit
Posted by Renee Berube
Oxford County

The Township of South-West Oxford is facing two lawsuits worth $3.8 million dollars after claims of bullying and harassment within the Beachville Fire Department. Their first and only female firefighter - Kelly Farrell - says in a statement of claim that she endured years of harassment, intimidation, and assault from all ranks at the station. She says she was even dis-invited to a company Christmas party because it was deemed a 'stag'. Former captain Gord Cowell filed his own claim that when he stuck up for Farrell he was wrongfully disciplined, suspended and then ultimately fired. The Township's lawyers say they will be defending the statements.
