OPP Appreciation Day

A local man on the advice from his grandchildren is hoping to establish an OPP appreciation day in Norfolk County.

Bill Mason is going to ask Council at Norfolk County on February 7th to designate October 13th as OPP Appreciation Day.

Mason got the idea from his grandchildren.

He says the OPP saved his granddaughters life by rushing her to the hospital and they actually pulled him from a wrecked car after hitting a deer.

Mason says too many young people have the wrong perception of OPP and the only way to change that is to educate them on all the good things the Police do for us.

Let’s hope the folks at Douglas Estates in Caledonia show their appreciation for the OPP in a big way. What other group in the province can say the T.R.U. team turned their backs to them and their weapons because the threat came from unarmed ordinary citizens?

Citizen21 has a good point. At some point you may have to say no to orders. I have quit a well paying job, because they wanted my to act unethically. It is the same thing.

For the most part I see the OPP in a very good light, but you can’t ignore what happened in Caledonia. It was appalling.
