Post Secondary Students Encouraged to Get Mumps Vaccine

Mumps

Post-secondary students are being encouraged to get vaccinated for mumps before heading back to school.

Mumps is an acute infection and four cases have been found in London.

Clinical Services Program Coordinator with the Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit Wendy Holmes recommends that ALL post secondary students make sure they’ve had two doses of the mumps vaccine.

She says it’s spread person to person by coughing and sneezing.

Students that still need their second vaccination can contact health services at their school, their family doctor or their local health unit.
