Simcoe and District Humane Society says their “adopt a mini panther” event was a success.
Shelter manager Cathie Hosken says 3 cats of the 151 staying at the shelter found forever homes, she also says the community was very generous donating $500.
Hosken adds that since the Humane Society isn’t funded by the government, they appreciate the support.

The Reformer states that the SDHS has received no funding from OSPCA. Why would they? They have not re-applied for their affiliation to be re-instated. Nor did they ask for assistance in a hoarding situation. Maybe after the last fiasco they were refused affiliation from the OSPCA. They want to do it on their own, so be it, but don`t now cry the blues about no assistance. There are many cats/kittens on Kijiji Norfolk, some already altered/vaccinated, looking for homes as well that have been refused assistance.
If people would be responsible pet owners this problem would not exist.
Lots of strange thiongs happening at the SDHS with a lot of questions not answered. But it is a volunteer position so if anybody else was interested in giving of their time to run this thing then they could take over.
It’s the only game in town and with the only one individual prepared to do it.
Not that easy Medusa. 1st you have to be approved for a membership. Then even if you (1 person) voted to put a different board member, policy, by-law, or any changes in place you would be outvoted by all the current members (puppets). I`ve seen it happen!! 60 to 1, not good odds! Try it sometime. Won`t take them long to get rid of you. They can always find a way.
So, unless you can find 31 people willing to step up it will remain the same. The hole they`re digging just keeps getting deeper and deeper. Who in their right mind would want to take over and inherit this mess.
You are right – lots of strange things happening at the SDHS.
